NEW YORK – A mobile thrown from the audience hit pop diva Bebe Rexha in the face and injured her during a hometown event in New York City on Sunday night, and a guy was arrested, according to police.
According to authorities, the Grammy-nominated, multiplatinum-selling singer-songwriter was transported to the hospital after the phone struck her. In her Monday social media pictures, a bruise and a bandage were evident above her left eye.
“I’m good, yeah, I’m feelin’ alright,” she sang in a TikTok video, quoting “I’m Good (Blue),” her recent hit with DJ David Guetta.
According to authorities, Rexha, 33, was on stage at Pier 17, a rooftop hotspot in Manhattan, when the phone was hurled. Rexha held her face as she fell to her knees in social media videos that showed the phone ricocheting off the artist’s head.
Nicolas Malvagna, 27, of New Jersey, was freed without bail after being charged with assault, aggravated harassment, and other offenses on Monday. Each is classified as a misdemeanor or an infraction.

According to a court complaint, Malvagna told a third party that he tried to hit Rexha with the phone towards the end of the event because he thought “it would be funny.”
A message was sent to his attorney for comment.
Rexha, a three-time Grammy nominee, is best known for her hits “I’m Good (Blue),” “Meant to Be,” with Florida Georgia Line, and “I Got You.” She was raised in New York and worked as a songwriter for various musicians before going solo.
“What I’m learning is that not everybody is going to connect with you and understand you, and that’s OK,” she told The Associated Press in April, just before the release of her current album, “Bebe.”
And, she continued, “I think you just have to be your truest, most authentic self because, at the end of the day, if you try to change yourself to please other people, you’re not really being yourself.”
Her next performance is slated for Tuesday in Philadelphia.
