Anna Sorokin Eliminated From ‘Dancing With The Stars’ In First Round Of Cuts

Los Angeles — Anna Sorokin, the convicted con artist who defrauded banks, hotels, and friends while posing as a “heiress” named Anna Delvey, has completed her season on “Dancing With the Stars.”

Sorokin, a contentious casting choice on the competing reality series, was forced to wear an ankle monitor on stage. Sorokin, described as the “notorious ankle bracelet fashionista” in the casting ad, is currently under house arrest due to an anticipated deportation case.

She was released from prison in February 2021, but immigration authorities apprehended her immediately after, stating she had overstayed her visa and needed to be repatriated to her native Germany. The “Inventing Anna” inspiration remained in ICE prison for more than a year before a judge granted her release to home confinement in October 2022 as she fights her deportation case.

Sorokin was removed from the series after performing KT Tunstall’s “Suddenly I See” with dance expert Ezra Sosa on Tuesday. Eliminations begin in the second week of the season and are determined by audience votes.

When asked by the hosts Tuesday night what she planned to take away from the tournament, Delvey simply replied, “Nothing.”

She reiterated on “Good Morning America” on Wednesday that her favorite part of the experience was “getting eliminated.”

Sorokin and Sosa spoke with The Associated Press last week following her first performance. Sorokin stated that dancing with her ankle monitor, which was bedazzled to match her costume, was not a huge deal. It’s quite light, and I asked them to tighten it so it doesn’t droop. So it’s not all horrible.”

Changes to Sorokin’s house arrest restrictions to facilitate filming in Los Angeles were unknown, and it is unclear how her lengthy deportation case will be handled.

Tori Spelling, best known for her role in “Beverly Hills, 90210,” was also ousted in Tuesday’s episode. Following her elimination with partner Pasha Pashkov, Spelling described her time on the show as a “crazy transformational journey” and expressed gratitude that she conquered her concerns despite being eliminated.

“I just kept glancing at my kids sitting in the audience and saying, ‘I love you. ‘I love you. And I wanted them to know that no matter what happened, “I love you and thank you for being proud of me,” Spelling said. “It moves quickly, and you’re in your brain because it’s scary. It’s very scary.”
