Amanda Bynes in Psychiatric Care After Roaming Streets Naked

Former Nickelodeon star Amanda Bynes has been placed on a psychiatric hold after being spotted walking around Los Angeles naked. The news comes just days after Bynes canceled her appearance on a panel at this year’s 90s Con in Connecticut, citing illness, according to TMZ.

According to eyewitnesses, Amanda Bynes was seen naked, walking through downtown Los Angeles early Sunday morning. The 36-year-old actress allegedly waved down a car and informed the driver that she was having a “psychotic episode” before dialing 911.

Bynes was reportedly taken to a nearby police station, where a mental health team determined she needed to be hospitalized. TMZ states she is now under a 5150 psychiatric hold at an unknown facility. These involuntary holds typically last 72 hours but can be extended if a patient continues to meet the hospitalization criteria.

Rick Bynes, Bynes’ father, declined to comment on his daughter’s latest hospitalization when reached by The Daily Beast on Monday. The Daily Beast also attempted to contact Bynes’ attorney and her mother.

After showing signs of improvement, Amanda Bynes filed to end her conservatorship last year, with her parents’ support; it was officially terminated on March 22, 2022.

Most recently, Amanda Bynes’ health was questioned during this weekend’s 90s Con in Hartford, Connecticut. The nostalgia-fueled convention, which reunited a slew of ’90s celebrities, hosted a panel for cast members of the Nickelodeon variety show All That, on which Amanda Bynes was scheduled to appear.

However, the convention’s production company, That’s 4 Entertainment, announced on Saturday that she would no longer attend “due to illness.” While the illness was not specified, the announcement recalled Amanda Bynes’ public history of mental health issues, including a bipolar disorder diagnosis announced on Twitter in 2014.

So far, it’s unclear whether Amanda Bynes’ parents must intervene in her personal life again. However, the troubling circumstances surrounding the former child star are undeniably grave.

Bruce Willis Turns 68

Meanwhile, Bruce Willis celebrated his 68th birthday with family and friends on Sunday, more than a month after being diagnosed with dementia.

Willis’ ex-wife, actress Demi Moore, shared a video of their family singing “Happy Birthday” to the Hollywood legend.

The actor’s family announced last month that he had been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia, which could cause “communication challenges,” according to the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration.

It came nearly a year after Willis stepped away from acting due to an aphasia diagnosis. However, as his family has noted, his condition has deteriorated.
