Snowfall and Rain in Himachal Pradesh
Rain and snowfall in Himachal Pradesh are expected to continue until March 20. Lahul has seen intermittent snowfall, causing traffic disruptions on several routes. Popular tourist destinations like Manali and Shimla are witnessing increased visitor numbers as temperatures drop in the mountains.
Heavy Rain Expected in 8-9 States Until March 18
Over the next week, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar may experience strong winds and dust storms. In southern India, Telangana continues to deal with heatwave conditions that could persist until March 18.
In central India, Chhattisgarh may see a 2°C rise in temperatures over the next three days. Conversely, plains across northwest India might not see significant changes in maximum temperatures over the next 48 hours, but a drop of 2-3°C is expected thereafter.
Two western disturbances are likely to pass through the Himalayas this week, bringing snowfall to higher regions of Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. Lower regions could experience rain. Between March 14-16, cloudy skies and isolated showers are predicted in parts of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, western Uttar Pradesh, central Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh.
In western India, including Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa, and western Rajasthan, temperatures are expected to drop by 2-3°C over the next 4-5 days. Similarly, in central India, including Chhattisgarh, a 2-3°C drop in temperatures is likely over the next 3-5 days.
Eastern states like Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, and Odisha may see a rise of up to 5°C in daytime temperatures. Light rain might occur in parts of Bihar and Jharkhand on March 16.

Rajasthan
Rainfall is still expected in parts of Rajasthan today, with a potential drop of 2°C in temperatures. Bharatpur and other areas have already experienced light showers. Western disturbances have brought storms and rain, leading to relief from scorching heat. Cities like Ganganagar and Hanumangarh have seen maximum temperatures dip below 30°C.
Madhya Pradesh
Rain is forecast for regions like Indore, Bhopal, and Gwalior on March 18-19. Temperatures are expected to drop by 2-3°C on March 16-17, providing relief from the heat.
Punjab
A yellow alert for rain remains in place for Punjab. The state recorded 1.4mm of rainfall in the last 24 hours. Maximum temperatures dropped by 4.8°C in some areas, with the highest temperature recorded at 26.2°C in Abohar.
Haryana
Rain and hail have affected Haryana for the past two days due to western disturbances. Areas like Hisar saw heavy rain and hailstorms last night, causing significant crop damage. Maximum temperatures have fallen by 5°C, and yellow alerts for rain remain in effect today.
Himachal Pradesh
Higher regions in Himachal Pradesh are experiencing light snowfall, while lower areas are seeing rain. Over the past 24 hours, Lahul-Spiti recorded 13 cm of snow, with other areas also reporting snowfall. An alert has been issued for 10 districts.
Chhattisgarh
Chhattisgarh continues to feel the heat, with Raipur, Durg, and Bilaspur districts recording temperatures above 40°C. A yellow alert is in effect for 16 districts, with heatwave conditions expected to persist.
