CBS is making major changes to its lineup by cancelling both FBI: International and FBI: Most Wanted. Back in February, the network confirmed that the original series, simply titled FBI, will continue as planned through the 2026-2027 season.
FBI: Most Wanted first aired in January 2020, followed by FBI: International in September 2021. The sixth season of Most Wanted is currently airing, while International is in its fourth. Despite the popularity of both spin-offs, only the main series will return, as CBS secured an additional three seasons for FBI in the spring of 2024.
Over the years, both spin-offs have seen notable cast changes. Most Wanted now features just two original cast members, while International saw a sudden departure of its lead actor, Luke Kleintank, at the end of Season 3.
Fans grew concerned late last month when CBS shared its renewal list, which excluded FBI: Most Wanted and FBI: International. Another omission was S.W.A.T., which had been cancelled in 2023 but later revived after fan pushback.
CBS Cancels Blue Bloods
This double cancellation comes on the heels of last year’s unexpected end to Blue Bloods. Tom Selleck, star of the long-running series, expressed frustration, saying, “If you told a network they could air a show in the least desirable time slot and still dominate Friday nights for 15 years, it would seem unbelievable.”
The decision to cancel both FBI spin-offs is surprising, especially given the success of CBS’s Tuesday night lineup. The schedule featured back-to-back episodes from all three FBI shows, drawing consistent viewership. The franchise also delivered popular crossover events that brought together cast members like Jeremy Sisto and Shantel VanSanten (FBI), Luke Kleintank (FBI: International), and Dylan McDermott (FBI: Most Wanted).
These Tuesday night showings earned CBS high ratings and helped it secure the top spot on Tuesday nights last spring. At the time, CBS Entertainment President Amy Reichenbach had praised the lineup, calling “All-FBI Tuesday” a strong part of their schedule. Now, the franchise’s presence on Tuesdays will be much smaller.
