Trident Digital Tech Holdings Ltd, based in Singapore, announced today that it has signed an implementation agreement with the Democratic Republic of the Congo’s Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications, and Digital Technology to establish a national digital identity system.
This initial agreement marks the start of delivering a full digital identity and authentication platform in the DRC. It moves the partnership between Trident and the DRC from the planning stages to actual execution.
The contract details tasks like creating and launching a digital identity verification and authentication system. This will be built on a secure framework to help deliver government services.
The system will feature strong data protection that meets international standards, ensuring citizens’ data remains secure and private. The aim is to transform how citizens interact with the government, pushing the country towards digital integration. This tech will make government services more efficient and secure, giving users control over their data.
Soon Huat Lim, Founder, Chairman, and CEO of Trident, expressed:
“Signing this agreement is a significant step towards providing secure and accessible digital identity services to DRC citizens. Partnering with the Ministry allows us to roll out advanced systems crucial for the DRC’s digital transformation. We’ll focus on developing a strong infrastructure so every citizen can securely access services with a verified digital identity.”
He continued:
“Our systems will set new benchmarks for digital governance in Africa and offer a model for developing countries. This partnership shows how technology can profoundly impact people’s lives.”

About Digital Identity Systems:
National Digital Identity Systems are becoming more common worldwide. These systems let citizens access government services online using a single ID, like having a digital passport for your country.
Digital identity systems help us prove who we are online. Think about how you’d show your driver’s licence or passport in the real world. Online digital identity works similarly. These systems use passwords, personal info, and even biometric data to confirm identity. The goal is to ensure only you can access your accounts or information.
This tech is used everywhere—from logging into your email to accessing your bank account or even using government services. It’s all about keeping your information safe and making online interactions smoother. But with more of our lives moving online, balancing convenience and security is key.
For added security, more systems are looking to use biometrics, like fingerprints or facial recognition. This tech is becoming a bigger part of our daily lives and aims to make our digital interactions easy and secure. It’s important to stay informed about how these systems work and protect your data.
National Digital Identity can make life easier and more secure. You don’t have to remember multiple passwords for different services, and they help protect your information. But there are privacy concerns. Some people worry about data on digital identity being misused or hacked. Governments need to ensure that these systems are safe and transparent.
