Britney Spears’ Husband Files For Divorce 14 Months After They Were Married

(LOS ANGELES) – Sam Asghari, Britney Spears’s husband, has filed for divorce from the singer 14 months after they married, according to a person familiar with the filing late Wednesday.

The person, who is close to Asghari but is not authorized to talk publicly, verified the filing took place on Wednesday, just hours after many outlets, including TMZ and People magazine, reported the pair had split up.

An email sent to a representative for Britney Spears was not immediately returned. According to court documents, the case was filed in Los Angeles and Ventura counties.

Spears married Asghari on June 9, 2022, at her home in Thousand Oaks, California, in front of guests including Selena Gomez, Drew Barrymore, Paris Hilton, and Madonna, in a wedding seen as a watershed moment in her newly reclaimed life after the dissolution of the court conservatorship that had controlled her life for more than 13 years.

When Asghari, a model and actor, starred in her music video for “Slumber Party” in 2016, the pop diva met and began dating him.

She mentioned her desire to marry Asghari as one of the reasons she wanted the conservatorship lifted, which she claimed was blocking it. They announced their engagement in September 2021 after it became evident she would be released from the conservatorship, which was lifted in November of that year.

According to a person familiar with the filing late Wednesday, Sam Asghari, Britney Spears’s husband, has filed for divorce from the singer 14 months after they married.

Spears revealed that she and Asghari lost a baby in May 2022, approximately a month before their wedding.

The couple’s problems have been widely publicized in recent months.

Their marriage is the 29-year-old Asghari’s first and the 41-year-old singer’s third. In 2004, she married Jason Alexander, a childhood friend who attempted to crash her wedding to Asghari and was ultimately convicted of misdemeanor trespassing and violence.

She married dancer Kevin Federline in 2004. Their three-year marriage would come when Spears was under severe media scrutiny and struggling with mental health issues. Federline is the biological father of her two teenage sons and has custody of them.

In 2008, she will be placed in her father’s conservatorship. Initially, she did well under the agreement, continuing to create recordings, make videos, and perform live, including a large concert engagement in Las Vegas. However, when she appeared less in public, supporters began demanding that the court #FreeBritney, resulting in a significant movement.

Spears has released songs since the conservatory ended, including a collaboration with Elton John in 2022, but she has not played live in years and has yet to indicate plans to do so.

Her book, “The Woman in Me,” will be published in October.

Washington – Pras, On Friday, a court denied a request for a fresh trial in a multimillion-dollar political conspiracy lawsuit against Fugees rapper Prakazrel “Pras” Michel.

U.S. District Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly determined that his defensedefense attorney’s employment of a generative AI software during closing arguments and other errors made throughout the Washington, D.C. trial did not constitute a substantial miscarriage of justice.

Michel was found guilty of ten counts after a jury heard testimony from witnesses, including actor Leonardo DiCaprio and former US Attorney General Jeff Sessions. On the most serious charges, he faces up to 20 years in prison. He is free until sentencing, which has yet to be decided.

The Grammy-winning rapper was accused of funneling money from a now-fugitive Malaysian financier through straw donors to Barack Obama’s 2012 reelection campaign, then attempting to deter a Justice Department investigation and influence an extradition case on behalf of China during the Trump administration.

The defense said Michel received lousy advice as he attempted to support himself while recreating himself in politics.

His defense attorney, David Kenner, who has previously represented rappers like Suge Knight and Snoop Dogg, pleaded guilty to leaking grand jury evidence to reporters.

Michel hired a new lawyer, who claimed Kenner had made several errors, including deploying an “experimental” generative AI software that botched closing arguments by misattributing a lyric from his client’s influential 1990s group.

Michel, however, failed to prove that Kenner’s handling of the case influenced the jury, according to Judge Kollar-Kotelly.

She accepted that some of Michel’s faults were valid, but they did not neutralise the prosecution’s extensive evidence against him or render the nearly month-long trial unfair.

Michel’s representative had no immediate comment on the ruling.
